Knit navy trapper hat, where can I find it?
The other day I saw this girl wearing a knit navy tapper hat, with 3 tan buttons I think they were, on one side of the hat. It didn't have any fur, and it had a pom pom on the top of the hat and at the ends of the strings. If anyone knows what brand this might be, or where I can find one that would be great!
There are some very cute hats like that at Old Navy and at J. Crew. I have also seen hats with pom-poms at T.J. Maxx If you are interested in making one - there are a number of patterns on-line to knit yourself.

Organic Latex History and Production
Where does Natural Latex comes from? Natural Latex is made of the latex which is extracted from ducts of actual rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis) from South-East Asian countries.

Thailand

The rubber tree life cycle is around 32 years. The latex is typically harvested when the trees are 5-7 years old.
The method of latex extraction is known as "rubber tapping". Tappers usually start tapping early in the morning when the internal pressure of the tree is highest. The idea is to tap the rubber tree vessels without harming the tree's growth. It is very important for the tappers to tap rubber tree attentively. Rubber tree life longevity depends on accurate and precise work of the tapper. The trees will drip latex for about four hours, stopping as latex coagulates naturally on the tapping cut thus blocking the latex tubes in the bark. Then all this milky sap-like fluid is collected in small buckets. Tappers usually rest and have a meal after finishing their tapping work then start collecting the latex at about midday. Rubber tree is usually tapped no more than once in every two days.
The botanical-derived Latex is known to be naturally:
anti-microbial,
dust mite resistant
mildew resistant
hypo-allergenic
flame retardant
There are two methods of natural rubber processing:
Talalay method
Dunlop method
The Talalay method is a proccess of producing molded pieces of natural latex foam rubber. A natural liquid latex rubber base is introduced to a closed mold that has been vacuumed of air. The mold is then frozen to stabilize the cell structure. Carbon dioxide gas is introduced and the mold is heated to cure the rubber. The Talalay Latex rubber manufacturers claim that talalay method of vulcanization is non-toxic and natural. However Talalay Latex rubber has petroleum added in the form of artificial vanillin. The vanillin contains dimethyl sulfate and is highly toxic according to a Virginia University study.
Pure natural Latex which acquired through a Dunlop method of vulcanization is using no petroleum based ingredients, harsh chemicals or pesticides. Dunlop method of vulcanization is an original straightforward process of converting rubber tree sap into a solid form. This method involves first whipping the latex liquid with air to make a foam, then pouring the latex liquid into a mold and heating it till it vulcanizes.
Natural Latex is produced through a Dunlop method of vulcanization uses the following ingredients:
1.90-95% of Natural Rubber
2.2-3% Zinc Oxide
3.1-2% Fatty Acids and Soaps
4.1-2% Sulphur and 1-2% Sodium.
At the end manufacturing process Latex rubber is rinsed out with water several times to ensure where is no soap residue or anything else left. As the result we get approximately 99% - 100% natural Latex rubber. It is then moulded into different shapes, sizes and predetermined degrees of firmness. The durability, flexibility, resilience and hygienic properties of Natural Rubber allows Latex Foam to be used for different kinds of purposes.
Be aware that some manufacturers market 100% latex which still contains synthetic foam. So if it's not branded 99% - 100% natural, it's probably anything but! Natural Latex is 100% renewable and sustainable resource, which is kind to the environment, and healthy for your body and general well-being.
