Refrigerant Check Charge
The heater not working...?
Jeep Grand Cherokee 1995 6-cyl 4.0 (Limited)
When I turn "ON" the heater from the air outlets blowing not very hot air, even if I drove the car about 30-40 minutes. The thermostat works, level of the coolant is OK, circulation works, I don `t know what else to check. Should I charge the system with refrigerant ? But soon gona be winter...
it sounds like a heater control valve . here is a link with a picture of a valve if yours look like the picture
start the car and turn on the heater let it run for a while to warm up . go out under the hood and feel of the hoses that attach to the valve they should all be hot all the way up to the fire wall . if they are not the valve is not open . you can disconnect the little metal arm from the diaphragm and turn the valve on manually. if the hoses are hot all the way to the fire wall check the return line and see if it is hot .
if it is not hot then the heater core is stopped up if it that is the case then you can disconnect the hoses and cut a garden hose and slide it over the lines on the heater core and flush it with a water hose . if all the hoses are very hot though the whole system then it is a door inside the heater unit .
I cant remember how they are operated on a jeep I think they are all vacuum could be a loose vacuum line or a bad controller .
the refrigerant is just for the air conditioning has nothing to do with the heater
