Motor Blower Fan
Furnace Blower Fan Motor?
I want to use an old furnace blower as a patio fan, but I'm confused about the wiring? The fan motor has the following colored wires, 2-brown that are connected to the capacitor, 1-green/ground that is connected to the housing. 1-blue, 1-red,1-yellow 1- black. I only want it to run on high speed only. What wires do I connect together? Which will then be common and which will be hot.

If you do not partially block the side of the blower opposite the motor, creating some static pressure, the motor will most likely over-amp and over-heat, tripping the overload. I suggest, too, that you put some hardware cloth over both sides of the blower, along with the outlet side, to prevent potential injuries.
