Bmw Heater Valve
For a 1994 bmw 525i is there a sensor or anything electronic that would make my car run hot.?
My fans do come on I've done everything, but get a block test. I ran to the store to get some block seal. I'm still not sure if I'm doing the right thing. When I run the car, it's trying to run hot on me so I'll park it back in the yard when I get home the water hoses are all tight. I see coolant come from the over flow valve from the heater core that's the only place the water come from when I park the car. Still all the water hoses are tight. The heater core hoses are tight all three of them, the upper and lower radiator hoses are tight all the hose that the water supposed to run through are tight. Do anyone think it's the heater core, sounds funny to me, but my friend keep on telling me change the heater core because the steam is coming from the heater core that's why the hosed are all tight.
You're saying that there's steam in the passenger compartment from the heater core? I've never heard of a heater core going bad on these cars, but it's still possible. Typically heater core problems manifest themselves with a strong smell of coolant inside the car, and fogged up windows, and when they really go bad, hot coolant dumped on your passenger's feet.
Much more likely with this car, which uses BMW's M50 engine, is a problem with the water pump, radiator or thermostat causing the car to overheat. They're all known problem areas that require preventative maintenance (or repair if you're unlucky and/or neglect the preventative maintenance).
If the car has overheated already, you may have damaged the head gasket, which in turn is now over pressurising the cooling system with exhaust gases.
Don't put in the block sealer. Get the car to a competent BMW specialist to look at.
