Blower Resistor Wiring
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Blower motor problems?
blower motor went out looked under dash at the resistor there is a plug that plugs into the resistor the wires are kind of crispy but not broken away from plastic plug. Is this a short or is this the resistor? How do i test the resistor to see if it is bad??? Help it is Almost December
Your problem is two parts and one caused the other. Yes,your resistor is burned out. The reason it burned out is because the blower motor quit working. The resistor gets hot so it is placed in the air ducts and the air flow from the blower keeps it cool.
I just fixed this same thing on my mother in law's '94 Jeep Cherokee Sport. You need to replace the blower motor first,then the resistor,and you may need to go to the dealer to get the resistor. You may also need to get a new wiring pigtail for the resistor at the dealer.
